I absolutely loved traveling in Australia with the kids this summer. What an incredible experience!! Melbourne is a beautiful city and I was amazed by how it felt both familiar and very strange. This trip was for the kids, so we spent a lot of time at zoos and playgrounds. We even spent an afternoon at an indoor playground with bounce houses. We stayed with friends which made everything easier. I'm very glad I didn't have to try driving on the left side!
I know this sounds implausible scientifically but I think the sky in Melbourne has a different pink than we have in New England! I swear it's bolder, it's hotter, it's different!! The photos I took do not capture this. My phone would dull down the color every time but I can remember it. You will see those hot pink skies in some of my future paintings!!
I look forward to returning one day to do the adult version of this vacation. Including cafes, shopping, museums! It will be lovely.
In the meantime I am feeling so filled with inspiration from everything we have seen. I will be doing a 30-paintings-in-30-days in September and I can't wait to see what comes out!
